Three days to the results, the Mahayuti is yet to declare its chief ministerial face for Maharashtra. While the BJP leaders are backing Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena is pushing for Eknath Shinde’s name.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has backed Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to make a comeback as the Maharashtra Chief Minister. The RSS functionaries believe that it was Fadnavis' face due to which people supported the BJP.

Sources have told ABP News that the leaders of the Shinde faction and Ajit Pawar faction met for over an hour on Monday over the government formation in Maharashtra.

Ajit Pawar and Fadnavis share a good equation, going back to the time when the two came together in 2019 to form a government, though that lasted less than 80 hours after the NCP leader developed cold feet.

Ajit Pawar's NCP won 41 seats out of the 59 seats it contested and took a vote share of 9.01 per cent. The Sharad Pawar faction could win just 10 seats.

In the contest between the two rival NCP factions in the Maharashtra assembly elections, the Ajit Pawar-led party defeated the outfit headed by his uncle Sharad Pawar on 29 seats.
