Friday was the wettest day of the 2024 in many areas, including San Francisco, which received 2.97 inches of rain — or 13% of its annual yearly rainfall in one day — and Oakland, which received 2.46 inches in one day. San Jose saw less on Friday, .72 inches, for its wettest day since Feb. 2, when .87 inches fell.

This week’s atmospheric river storm smashed some heavy rainfall records in parts of the Bay Area, especially the North Bay, before mostly petering out by Saturday morning. Downtown Santa Rosa received 12.

After a brief hiatus from the storm for most of the Bay Area on Sunday, rain has made its way back to the Bay Area. In contrast to last week’s storm that began in and was prominent in the North Bay, the latest rainfall will make its way up from Santa

Though the North Bay is facing the brunt of the storm, the entire Bay Area is in it for the long haul, with the storm expected to bring rain to our area until Sunday.

Record-breaking rainfall propelled by a powerful atmospheric river drenched the Bay Area over the weekend, and though more is on the way, forecasters are expecting the upcoming system to pale in comparison to the historic storm.
