Shiv Sena MP Srikant Shinde, the son of Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, on Monday said the speculations about him getting the deputy CM’s post in the new state government were false and baseless.

According to reports, Shinde was scheduled to attend a Mahayuti leaders meeting to finalise portfolio allocations. He is suffering from a throat infection and fever and did not return to his official residence, Varsha, in Mumbai. Shinde is currently staying in his native village in Satara.

According to sources, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which emerged as the single largest party in the Maharashtra assembly election, is backing Devendra Fadnavis as the next CM and has been pushing for two deputy CMs - from Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party.

Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant shared an update on the Maharashtra CM post, stating that he was with Eknath Shinde until early morning. Samant mentioned that Shinde will return the next day, and discussions can take place through various means,
