Israel's army has banned residents of several villages in southern Lebanon from returning home until further notice. An Israeli military spokesman announced on X in Arabic that the military didn't want the villagers to be put in danger of being targetted.

Earlier on Wednesday, IDF troops shot at suspects who had been detected in a prohibited area in Lebanese territory, the military said on Wednesday morning, hours after a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon came into effect at 4:00 a.m. local time.

The military warned the residents of towns on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border not to return to their homes.
