Rocky Balboa fans are ready to go the distance to honor Philly’s favorite fictional fighter almost 50 years after the first movie launched the enduring series of an underdog boxer persevering despite the odds.

For the first time ever, the city of Philadelphia is hosting a weekend-long extravaganza called Rocky Fest, all in honor of its most famous fictional resident—Rocky Balboa. Directed by John G. Avildsen and written by Rocky himself,

Philadelphia at last has a week dedicated to the box office heavyweight champion a year after the inaugural Rocky Day was held with Sylvester Stallone.

RockyFest officially kicks off Tuesday and a series of events dedicated to the movies series are set to be held around the city.
