Temporary protected status covers many U.S. immigrants. President-elect Trump says he’ll challenge its use, particularly for Haitians in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump and his allies say that their plan will revitalize the economy and prioritize the rule of law. American workers “will now be offered higher wages with better benefits to fill these jobs,” Stephen Miller, one of Trump’s top immigration advisers, told The Times last year.

Tom Homan, border czar in a second Trump administration, said that Temporary Protective Status can "end tomorrow" for Haitians in Springfield, at which point they could be deported.
