Macy's is preparing for millions of in-person spectators at its annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC – despite the threat of a storm, bitter chill and whipping winds.

The show must go on and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will go on rain or shine, Macy’s tells NBC New York. The parade is scheduled for Thursday in New York City and unfortunately, the forecast looks rainy.

Wednesday will start with sunshine, ideal for those hitting the road for Thanksgiving travel. Most of the region should stay dry during the day. However, a storm system is expected to move in from the west by late Wednesday into Wednesday night.

Rain will likely dampen Thanksgiving festivities in Southern New England, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday will bring more sunshine with a high near 58°F. Winds will swirl in around 10 to 15 mph. With the exception of a few passing clouds, the day will remain mostly sunny. The NWS predicts Sunday night will be partly cloudy,
