Bangladesh: Advocate Ramen Roy, the lawyer who is defending Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, has been brutally attacked in Bangladesh and is in the ICU, ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharamn Das claimed on Monday.

After the formation of the interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus, minorities in Bangladesh, especially Hindus, have come under severe attack by Islamist extremists in the country.

Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, also known as Krishna Das Prabhu, is an ISKCON monk and prominent Hindu leader who was arrested in Bangladesh for his alleged involvement in protests against violence towards Hindus.

The Bangladesh government has frozen bank accounts of 17 individuals linked to ISKCON amid tensions surrounding the arrest of Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, whose account will also be affected.

Iskcon spokesperson Radharamn Das said on Monday that Advocate Ramen Roy, who had represented Bangladeshi Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in a legal case, was brutally assaulted in Bangladesh and is now hospitalised in critical condition.

Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari, the general secretary of ISKCON Bangladesh, said the monk had been removed from all positions of the organisation.

Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sommilito Sanatan Jagaran Jot coalition, faces sedition charges for allegedly disrespecting the national flag during a rally.

BJP leaders, spearheaded by Suvendu Adhikari, protested outside the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata over the arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das. They demanded his release, alleging religious persecution in Bangladesh.
