A driver was arrested for a hit-and-run that seriously injured a 25-year-old man and killed his dog in Absecon, New Jersey, police said.

A man and his dog were out just after midnight early Saturday morning, when they were hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Marlborough Avenue and Highland Boulevard, in Absecon, officials said.

Authorities say Syed Hoque and his dog were struck as they were crossing the intersection of Highland Boulevard and Marlborough Avenue.
