A suspect is dead, and two Peoria police officers are in the hospital after an officer-involved shooting on Sunday morning.Around 7 a.m., Peoria Police officers responded to a call for service after a man in his 20s was reported breaking into vehicles in a business lot near Loop 101 and Grand Avenue,

Police say Jax Benjamin Melwing was breaking into cars and pinned officers between vehicles while trying to get away and officers fired their weapons.

Peoria police said there is no active threat to the community, but the area would be restricted as the investigation was completed.

PHOENIX — One person has died after an officer-involved shooting in Peoria on Sunday morning, authorities said. At around 6:50 a.m., police responded to an incident near Grand and 91st avenues. Authorities said officers had received information from a business owner about a male who was going through other vehicles.

Peoria police responded to the area of 91st Avenue and Cactus Road after receiving information from a nearby business owner who was watching his video surveillance cameras and saw a man at his closed business. The suspect was also going through vehicles nearby, according to a news release.

Two people were killed and one critically injured in a shooting late Thursday night in west Fort Worth, police said.
