Swiggy, a leading food delivery and quick-commerce app in India, said on Monday that it has expanded its 10-minute food delivery service, Bolt, to more than 400 cities and towns across the country.

Food delivery platform Swiggy is expanding its express delivery Bolt business to tier 2 and 3 cities such as Roorkie, Guntur, Warangal, Patna, Jagtial, Solan, Nashik and Shillong. The company's shares closed higher in Monday's trading session.

Shares of Swiggy ended 5% higher at INR 495.35 apiece on the BSE today (December 2) after the foodtech major announced expansion of its 10-minute delivery service ‘Bolt’ to 400 cities across India.

Initially launched in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, Bolt is now active in cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Indore, Coimbatore, and Kochi as well, Swiggy said in a statement.

Swiggy claims that to ensure safety of the delivery partners, they are not informed of the distinction between Bolt and regular orders, and there is no incentive for fast delivery. However, the speed of delivery is optimized by prioritizing delivery executives closest to the Bolt outlets.

Swiggy's 10-minute food delivery service, Bolt, has expanded to over 400 cities in India, including tier-2 and tier-3 locations. Popular cities for the service include Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Coimbatore.
